Archos Gen 8 Series possibly on the way with full range of sizes

Archos_gen8

Whoa, slow down there Archos! With a busy summer already planned due to the upcoming 7-inch Home Tablet, Archos is again flashing around their slideshow teasers, this time of the new Gen 8 Internet Tablets. What makes this interesting is the full range Archos is aiming for, starting with a 3-inch version all the way up to 10 inches.

Full details are not known at this time, but according to this leaked slide courtesy of ArchosLounge, the Gen 8 tablets will comprise six models ($100 to $350), all of which will be fueled by an ARM Cortex running at anywhere from 800MHz to 1GHz. Multitouch is mentioned, as is "3G OpenGL," which could be interpreted as "3D OpenGL" or even "3G and OpenGL," so we'll have to wait and see how things shake out.

While there is no mention of Android being the OS of choice, and the images in the slide are clearly just scaled up and down in size, it's hard to believe that Archos would go back to their pre-Android days and not differentiate the models more. Of course, Archos has been a fan of the slideshow technique in the past, only to leave us high and dry, so the Gen 8 could end up with major changes before its release later this year.
