Dell Lightning, Thunder, Smoke, and Flash leaked in one big flurry

Dell_quartet

Word on the street is that Michael Dell waltzed down to 6th Street in downtown Austin, not far from his Round Rock headquarters, and had himself a bit too much barbecue and live music, becoming disoriented in the process. Next thing you know, he leaves his keys on a bar stool and then wanders off and leaves the keys to fend for themselves. Someone snatches them and looks around for the now-gone owner, sees the "Dell" security fob, and immediately – oh wait! My apologies, I must be thinking about something else.

Truth be told, the gang over at Engadget just may have access to that special set of keys, because they have uncovered some juicy details of what Dell has in store for us in the smartphone department. It involves both Android and Windows Phone 7, along with some very fine looking hardware. For portrait slider fans, we have the Lightning, running WP7. If Android is your thing, we have the multitouch Thunder, while candybar fans will find the Smoke more to their liking. Last, but not least, we have the sleek and sexy Flash and its curved glass design.

For a brief rundown on the specs for each phone, keep on reading. At the very least, it'll pass some time while we wait for the long-elusive Streak 5 to become a reality.

Keep in mind that most of the leaked specs for all four handsets are not yet finalized, and with the release dates still some time away, things can and probably will change a bit. If there is one thing evident in the designs, it's that Dell looks to be very serious about joining the smartphone fray with HTC and Apple. They're not just targeting one specific type of customer, but trying to appeal to everyone instead.
