Official HTC EVO 4G LTE launch date finally announced: Saturday, June 2

evo 4g lte front - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereThe long wait is over, and we finally have an official launch date for the HTC EVO 4G LTE: according to an announcement on the official Sprint blog, the device will be available in “most retail channels” this Saturday, June 2.

Most likely due to the short notice, all Sprint retail locations will operate on regular business hours during the launch, rather than opening early like Sprint had originally planned for May 18. That’s a little disappointing, as I was kind of looking forward to the festivities myself. I guess we’ll have to concede a small victory to Apple, even though HTC still succeeded in getting its devices through Customs.

There’s no word yet about when third-party retailers like Best Buy, Wirefly, or Amazon will have enough inventory to start selling to customers who haven’t preordered, but I’d bet it will be sooner rather than later. In any case, be sure to let us know your experiences as you finally get your hands on the latest EVO, and don’t forget our Seidio ACTIVE case giveaway!
