Team Win’s Recovery Project 2.4.2.0 released

twrp2.4.2.0 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereTeam Win’s custom recovery has reached version 2.4.2.0 and is now available for more devices than you can shake a stick at.

The new version adds a very useful little root checker/root helper feature that checks to see if the system has root, and if it doesn’t it will ask if you want it to install SuperSU for you. This is incredibly useful for those just starting down the root path, as they don’t have to download and flash anything to get their stock ROM up and running as a rooted ROM.

The developers have also added screen timeouts, so you’re not using all your juice displaying what is (or isn’t) going on currently, and they’ve made a “clicked” effect so you can tell when you’ve pressed something and are just waiting for something to happen. Additionally, if your device supports it, you can set screen brightness.

There’s also support for 24-hour format clocks and a root permissions fix in case you’ve got root but something is just wrong.

The new version can be installed in a few ways: If you’re rooted just grab a copy of GooManager and choose menu, install OpenRecoveryScript. If you’re not rooted, you’ll need to head over to the TeamWin site and read the instructions for your device there.

Not all devices have the newest version available for download on the website, but GooManager seems to be updated a little bit before the website is, so you can flash from there if you’re rooted and it’s available.

The developers have done a really good job with this one, on adding features that people can use.
