Toshiba Chromebook 2 is now shipping

toshiba-chromebook-2

If you’ve been looking for a new Chromebook, look no further than the Toshiba Chromebook 2. Even though it was just announced at the IFA 2014 trade show last month, and it officially is still available for “pre-order,” some buyers from Amazon have already gotten shipping notifications. OMG! Chrome! is reporting that some buyers are receiving theirs today.

Amazon offers both the FHD and standard HD versions for pre-order. The FHD model features an IPS display at 1920×1080 resolution, 4GB RAM, a 16GB SSD and 9.5 hour battery life for $329.99.

The HD model has a regular TN panel at 720p resolution, 2GB RAM, and a 16GB SSD for $250.

As far as Chromebooks go, these seem to offer the most bang for the buck. The only feature that is missing in my eyes is touchscreen capabilities.

Previously, Toshiba had said that these would hit shelves on October 5, so it’s nice to see us getting them a week or two early.

The Toshiba Chromebook 2 should be available in Europe in 2015.
