Google Photos are now showing up in Google Drive … but not all of them

Photos in google drive

Sometime over the holiday weekend, Google started rolling out an update to Google Drive and Google Photos, so that all of your automatically backed up photos appear in both Google+ and Drive. We knew this was happening, as the link started showing up for people in Drive (located between “Shared with me” and “Recent”) last week, even though no photos were there yet.

Even though Google is loudly announcing this new feature to anyone who visits Drive on the desktop (see the screenshot above), it doesn’t seem as if it has been fully implemented yet. In Paul’s case, only photos from April 1 or later are showing up in Google Drive. That was the case yesterday for me, but today I’m seeing photos that go all the way back to November 2014.

This makes it seem like Google is, very very slowly, bringing photos over to Drive month by month, and everyone is on a slightly different schedule.

In any case, go ahead and check it out – this should hopefully make organizing your photos a little easier, especially when the transition is complete.
