ZTE’s unlikely savior might be Donald Trump
In one of the odder bits of news over this weekend Donald Trump says he’s working with President Xi of China (Xi Jinping,) to get ZTE back up and running fast.
President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!

You may recall that ZTE had already paid a huge fine, fired several people, and then simply skipped the part about putting disciplinary notes in people’s files or reducing compensation for some. Then they admitted that, which got their whole business shut down as it could no longer purchase any US parts, nor do business in the United States.
If that whole scenario seemed a bit weird to you, this will probably seem like the other shoe dropping. I’ve got my tinfoil haberdashery on speed dial now.
Beyond the several thousand ZTE employees however, it’s most likely good news for ZTE owners as their warranties may be picking back up and Android updates should once again be rolling out.
