Analysts underwhelmed by Apple event

9to5Mac is reporting that it wasn’t only the Android people who were underwhelmed by yesterday’s Apple event, but analysts, partners, and fans.

While Pocketables always expects comments on the Android innovations from two years ago being rolled out with an Apple spin, yesterday was different.

Service that’s not out for six or so months, service that’s not out for who knows, physical credit card that is a bit more Apple-y, and a lot of claims of future services that will improve on already existing services that are up and running today.

Basically it was the Apple Service announcement rather than anything particularly hold-worthy.

I’m writing this not to bash Apple, but to note that the lack of news and innovation in rectangles we hold and tap appears to be spreading. Hopefully Tim Apple will unveil something truly innovative and not a folding iPad at the next Apple event.

Apple’s forays into services are going to make them bank, and that’s not particularly exciting if you’re not them. Most of their income is not hardware based at this point (although I guess it could be argued that the App Store is essentially hardware based because it only runs on Apple hardware,) but whatever.

Maybe with the increased income Apple will feel more free to experiment on future phones. I just don’t want to see a folding iPad.
