Same pocketables, different address

Welcome to the new home of pocketables!

The first thing you’ll notice, aside from the URL, is the new look. The general feel (and all the content) of the old place is still intact, though presented in what I hope is a cleaner, more modern design. I toned down all the pink, got myself a new banner, and also implemented a three-column layout.

But not all the changes are purely cosmetic (though the favicon is quite cute); some have function, too!

You’ll see in the sidebar the addition of a category cloud. If you’re not familiar with such clouds, it’s that weird-looking blob of links in the sidebar. Categories that contain more posts (all posts have been categorized) appear in a larger, bolder font. This should make it easier to find what you’re looking for, as searching though the archives is a pain.

Another thing that wasn’t on the old site is the post continuation or extended body feature, as seen below.

Now you don’t have to scroll through my longwinded posts on the main page! You can just read a paragraph or two and decide whether you want to click on.

And finally, in case you’re interested, the site is now being hosted by TypePad (rather than Blogger).

The old place will no longer be updated, but I’ll keep it online for a while. I may set up an automatic redirect of some kind in the future. Oh, and if you haven’t done it already, please unsubscribe from my old RSS feed. I’m going to delete it soon. You can get my new feed here.

So, take off your shoes and make yourself comfortable. There are a couple of new posts back on the main page, and there’s a lot more to come. Now that the big move is complete, you can expect to see an increase in “meatier” posts soon.

Thanks, as always, for visiting the site.
