Amazon celebrates Black Friday today
Okay, not officially, but I think clogged servers, what I assume are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of people clamoring for the same item, and 1,000 gadgets selling out in less than a minute qualifies as Black Friday behavior. Anyway, so that’s the instant madness that went down today at Amazon in honor of the $100 Xbox 360 Core System deal that’s been floating around for the past week.
In Hawaii, the deal went live at 9 a.m. All I saw for the five minutes leading up to then was "Waiting for www.amazon.com . . ." at the bottom of my browser. My husband landed on the page some time between 9:00 and 9:01, and the Xbox was already sold out. The Barbie and mountain bike are sold out now, too, but the one-year Prime membership and $100 toys certificate is still available.
So, no Xbox 360 for anyone on our Christmas list year, but one of our nieces will find that Barbie in her stocking.
