MP3 Players

eMusic supports Creative Zen (and everything else)

Indie-music retailer eMusic is currently running what looks like an exclusive promotion in support of the Creative Zen line of digital audio players.

It turns out that the company, which offers almost 2 million tracks sans DRM, actually offers 50 free downloads to anyone with a credit card. Music for everyone is of course better than music only for Zen owners, but I feel ever so slightly mislead. First off, the ad was only included with my Limited Edition Zen V Plus,  not my Zen V.

See that "Fill your Zen" booklet in the top right? Here’s the eMusic promo inside.

I see that the service is compatible with every MP3 player, but I thought the special URL was only for people who have, as Creative instructs, "found their Zen." Instead, www.emusic.com/ZEN just takes you to the home page. Nothing earth-shattering, I know, but I took the screenshot above thinking that I’d be sharing "secret" news.

Instead, this is just a little plug for eMusic, "the world’s largest retailer of independent music and the world’s second-largest digital music retailer overall."
