YouTube joins hands with Verizon

Youtube_verizon_1

I’ve been under the impression that this was already possible, but YouTube announced today that its most popular videos will soon be made available to Verizon V CAST subscribers.

The company said its "move into the mobile space will enable a new audience of mobile users to enjoy entertaining videos virtually whenever and now wherever they want." I’m not much of a viral-video viewer myself, but seriously, isn’t this already being done? I always thought YouTube videos could be downloaded in .flv format then converted for playback on just about any portable device out there.

Ah well. Perhaps the operative word is "official."
