5G iPod tops Amazon's "Best of 2006" list
With the amount of advertising it gets and the number of times I see it cradled in the hands of someone on the street, it comes as no surprise that Apple’s 5G iPod (commonly called the Video iPod) is ranked highest in nearly all the electronics categories on Amazon’s "Best of 2006" list. Determined by the megastore’s customers, the list compiles the bestselling, most-loved (based on positive reviews), most wished-for, and most popular gift items.
According to the list, most people wished for and gave 5G iPods as gifts, probably buying only Nanos and Shuffles for themselves. "Apple iPods (various)" were crowned the bestselling electronics of the year, but they did not receive the highest number of favorable reviews. In a surprising upset, that honor was given to the 5-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F707 digital camera, which currently holds a 5-star rating based on 83 customer reviews. The 5G iPod has a 4-star rating based on 762 reviews.
Hmm. Looks like Amazon may need to reconsider its tabulation methods for next year.
