HTC readies 7-inch UMPC for release

Htclogo No doubt part of the "cool stuff" HTC has up its sleeve this year is what the Taiwan-based company is calling the Mobile Office Device.

Already slated for a second-quarter launch, the device will sport a 7-inch display and enough oomph in the specs department for DigiTimes (again!) to dub it a UMPC. Actually, they’re calling it HTC’s second one, the Athena slash T-Mobile Ameo (Germany, Netherlands, and possibly elsewhere) slash Dopod U1000 (Asia) slash X7500 (other parts of Europe) being the first, of course.

Whether the much-abused "UMPC’ term is again being dragged on the floor remains to be seen, but based solely on screen size, I’d say the MOD/UMPC is much more likely to be running Vista than Crossbow. What do you think?
