LG Prada phone is official

Lg_prada_phone_1 No one doubted its existence, of course, but the Prada-branded LG KE850 (the contested iPhone twin) was made official today. The previously leaked photos of the touchscreen 3.89" x 2.13" x 0.47" EDGE tri-band phone spoiled most of the fun, of course, but that’s just the way it goes these days. No surprises here, but it’s worth confirming that the phone has a Flash user interface, 2-megapixel camera, micro SD card slot, Bluetooth 2.0, music and video player, and document viewer that supports PDFs and Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files.

This isn’t the first time Prada has teamed up with a company whose business is gadgetry, but it is one of the nicer devices it’s stamped its name on. In addition to good looks, the phone is bundled with an executive leather case, which alone probably warrants the $780 starting price.

The LG Prada phone will be available next month in the UK, France, Germany, and Italy and next-next month in various countries throughout Asia. There’s no indication of a U.S. release, but you might want to keep an eye on www.lgpradaphone.com (only a splash page at the moment) if you’re interested in picking one up before you sign your life away to the new AT&T this summer.
