Medion handtop available this month

Medion_mdrim1000 The last time we saw the Medion MD RIM 1000 handtop, pesky little details like pricing and availability were swinging around on question marks. Fortunately, the latter piece of puzzle was snapped into place today when Bill Gates demonstrated the device at CES and word of a January 30th release date found its way to Engadget.

Featuring a 6.5-inch display, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, onboard GPS, the MD RIM 1000 was already seen cavorting in the wild a few weeks ago. But if you’re thinking of catching one, I hope you don’t live in the U.S. It seems the handtop is equipped with a DVB-T tuner, which indicates a Europe-only launch. The good news, though, is that manufacturers often drop those tuners with no qualms to get them into American hands (my Samsung Q1P can attest to this, as can its covered-up DMB TV antenna slot).
