HTC to reveal Athena's "real name"

Athena_revealA new teaser website for the HTC Athena is running a live countdown to the handtop’s "big reveal" in what I assume to be the U.S. market (even though the viral video campaign and domain registrant’s location suggest otherwise).

The only mystery left about the device, aside from U.S. availability and pricing, is apparently its name. And that looks to be solved in time for Valentine’s Day. The HTC Dos Clan (whoever that is) is confident that the handtop will not be named Athena or X7500, and the campaign would be rather silly if the company planned to release the unit as the Ameo or U1000.

It’s sweet that HTC thinks the Athena has been kept so well under wraps that no one knows anything about it yet. They have to be thinking that, right? Otherwise this is all quite ridiculous.

If only it were two months ago. The website would’ve been really exciting then.
