New touchscreen Kohjinsha due in April

Kohji_wallpaperOne of my grumbles about the Kohjinsha SA1F00A handtop is that its 7-inch display isn’t a touchscreen.

It isn’t necessarily a deal-breaking omission, as the clamshell form factor encourages standard laptop use and the device has an (awful) integrated keyboard, but it would certainly add more value to being able to use it in slate mode. And besides, a touchscreen is pretty standard stuff when it comes to UMPCs and handtops.

Maybe that’s why the latest word out of Japan is that Kohjinsha is readying a touchscreen-enabled successor to the SA1 series. And it’s expected to be rolled out as early as mid-April. That’s just a few weeks from now!

If this turns out to be true, April will certainly be an exciting month for UMPCs.
