New Samsung LCDs for UMPCs and MIDs

Samsung_lcds

Undoubtedly part of Intel’s Ultra Mobile Platform 2007, Samsung today presented two new WSVGA displays specifically for UMPCs and MIDs at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing.

According to DigiTimes, the 4.8-inch display is designed for MIDs and "uses Samsung’s single-chip display driver that combines source driver, timing controller, level shifter and LVDS receiver." Exactly what that means is beyond me, but I believe that the LCD’s incredibly low power consumption (just 0.9 watts!) is pretty amazing, especially given its brightness of 350 nits.

Other than what’s listed in the chart, information on the new 7-inch UMPC display is unavailable.
