Sony PSP now $30 cheaper

Psp_pricecutIn honor of the Sony PSP’s second birthday, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has reduced the price of the PSP Core Pack. Starting today, the handheld gaming system (with battery and charger) is now just $169.99. Paired with last week’s news of free T-Mobile HotSpot access, the new MSRP may help to boost sales and lessen the ever-widening gap between the popularity of the PSP and the Nintendo DS. Evidently, the Sony Nintendo DS isn’t flying off shelves as quickly as SCEA had hoped.

So, let’s see. First the PSP Value Pack is slashed/discontinued, then HotSpot access is free for six months, and now the Core Pack is $30 cheaper. Looks to me like groundwork for the PSP2, no?
