Intel dusts off Erath UMPC prototype

Erath_computexOne of the things made clear at Computex last week is that Intel has only a limited number of UMPC prototypes at its disposal. The company is clearly determined to keep showing them and showing them and showing them, too, and at the moment I don’t see any signs of it stopping. The 5.6"-screened Erath concept, while certainly eye-catching and interesting, is proof of this (well, further proof of this).

Intel’s not trying to hide it either, as the official name of the reference design is "2006 Erath" (am I the only one who thinks a careless typo is responsible for renaming what was supposed to be called the Earth?). Yes, as UMPCportal.com mentions, this is the same unit shown off at least 15 months ago. Given that full specs aren’t available for either "version," the main difference just looks to be the result of a paint job.
