Rugged Falcon UMPC to take off as GoBook MR-1

Gobook_mr1GD-Itronix revealed its codenamed 5.6"-screened Falcon UMPC today as the GoBook MR-1, a ruggedized FlipStart with an Intel Core Solo processor and 40GB hard drive designed specifically (and based on the price point, exclusively) for outdoor military use.

Equipped with the company’s Dynavue screen technology to improve readability in direct sunlight, the $4,450 MR-1 features a rubber casing and brushed aluminum cover and is expected to become available this September, which is actually a month behind schedule. PCMag reports that except for the CPU and storage capacity, the MR-1’s "features are consistent with the FlipStart, right down to the 2-pound frame." Ordinarily, that kind of statement would serve as confirmation of previous information, but the fact that the FlipStart is actually only 1.5 pounds (1.75 with the high-capacity battery) kind of makes me wonder.
