Asus announces Eee PC 8G, 4G, 4G Surf, 2G Surf

Eee_pc_launchPresumably to coincide with today’s launch of the Eee PC in Taiwan, Asus has updated the 7-inch handtop’s product site with a detailed quick guide and solid specifications for four cosmetically identical models that differ only in SSD size (2GB to 8GB), memory (256MB to 1GB), battery life (2.8 to 3.5 hours), and the inclusion of a built-in digital camera.

The Eee PC 8G, Eee PC 4G, Eee PC 4G Surf, and Eee PC 2G Surf, as they’re now called, are expected to be available through retailers like Best Buy and Newegg in the coming weeks. Pricing hasn’t been formally announced yet, but based on the preorders that were being accepted from other retailers a few months ago, the units should fall within the $250 to $400 range.

Here’s a shot of the user interface:

Update: The 2G Surf will have 512MB of memory when released.
