Windows Mobile 6.1 with carousel coming soon?

Windows_live_wm6If you’ve spent the last month envious of the carousel-like Windows Mobile 6 interface European carrier Vodafone put on the Treo 500v (the externally similar though internally different Palm Centro), then you’ll be relieved to know that your days of supporting that freeloading green-eyed monster may soon be over.

That’s because WMExperts is reporting that Microsoft may announce Windows Mobile 6.1 as early as February 2008, with new devices featuring the upgrade shipping in May. The updated operating system will reportedly include better wi-fi, Bluetooth, and Exchange integration, as well as . . . wait for it . . . a carousel interface! Similar to the way Windows Media Center currently works, 6.1’s carousel will feature a vertical scrolling list and horizontal options, making navigating through menus more intuitive because it will enable users to "think in terms of what do I want to do today?" (supposedly according to Microsoft) rather than where is that damn application?
