A frowning, crying Amazon.com logo can’t mean good news. Neither can another email from the cruel "order-update" people. Remember when the meanies delayed the shipment of my Nokia N810 Internet Tablet by three weeks yesterday?
They just did it again! My new delivery estimate is now sometime between January 9 and January 28, 2008. Due to the terribly inordinate delay, Amazon actually needed my approval to proceed with the order.
I didn’t give it to them.
Even though they were giving me until January 24 to do so and I couldn’t find a better price elsewhere (as I mentioned before, my order came out to only $388 because of some Amazon gift certificates I had), I denied their request and canceled my order.
Guess what I did instead.
I took a few readers’ suggestion (thanks!) and ordered it from Buy.com. I used a $10 coupon from Mr. Rebates (if you’re not already a member, I recommend signing up; I’ve gotten $400 cash back from them so far) to offset some of the shipping costs. Hawaii isn’t included in Buy’s "free shipping" offer and 2nd-day delivery is the least expensive option, so a shipped price of $452.56 is the best I could find today.
Oh well. Assuming nothing happens between now and whenever Buy.com ships, at least I’ll have the N810 within a few days and the $70-something I had in Amazon gift certificates can be used for something else.[Nokia N810 at Buy.com]
