Updated T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage) gets 16GB microdrive

X7501_ameo_16gbT-Mobile Germany announced today that it will be making available an updated Ameo, European counterpart to the HTC Advantage, in April 2008.

Priced at 460 euros with two-year contract, the new Ameo will have a 16GB microdrive tucked into its silver casing and a revamped keyboard featuring a modified layout. It will also ship with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, a relatively minor improvement over the current WM6 running in all Advantage X7501 units and any X7500s that upgraded from WM5. The press release (German) actually only mentions Office Mobile 6.1, but according to the::unwired, "T-Mobile Germany accidentally confirmed" the new operating system as well.

The layout of the keys was one of the complaints I had in my Advantage keyboard review, so the news of a slight redesign has me considering a springtime trip abroad.
