Asus Eee PC 4G with Windows XP at Best Buy

Xp_eee_bestbuy

Pocketables reader Clyde wrote in this afternoon to tell us that Best Buy is showing the XP-flavored Asus Eee PC 4G as in stock, shipping, and in the case of the Galaxy Black model, available in most brick-and-mortar stores. The Pearl White model, as shown in the screen capture above, is an online-exclusive. The $399 mini notebook wasn’t given the same 4G-X model name as its Japanese counterpart, but it’s still running the same Windows XP Home operating system on an Intel Celeron M processor, 512MB of RAM, and (contrary to Best Buy’s description) 4GB solid-state drive.

I haven’t had any regrets about returning my 2G Surf and don’t plan to buy another 7-inch computer again (unless my twisted desire for HTC Shift gets the best of me, of course), but if I were in the market for an Eee PC, I’d probably go with this XP one.
