Since Amazon and CompSource have already given several configurations of what is now called the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC their own product pages, most are expecting a formal announcement very soon. If you find the wait excruciating, however, PC World has already published an article at 5:01 pm PDT that opens with "HP today entered the affordable mini-notebook category with its eye-catching HP 2133." Today? Someone obviously hit "publish" a bit too early, as HP hasn’t issued a press release yet, but blogging wouldn’t be what it is if we all couldn’t benefit from someone else’s eagerness, right? (Update: PC World has since changed the date of their article to April 8, 12:01 am).
I’m still reading the two-page piece but wanted to highlight a bit of info that should be of interest to anyone considering the 8.9-inch notebook: the price. According to PC World, the 2133 Mini-Note PC will range between $499 (Linux, 1GHz C7-M CPU, 512MB RAM) and $749 (Vista Business, 1.6GHz C7-M CPU, 2GB RAM). Any takers?
Update: Press release (dated April 8) and product page now available; unit expected to be released "later this month."
