Willcom D4 (Sharp WS016SH) reported battery life

Willcom_d4_batt_estI’m still waiting for confirmation on this, but being that everyone is either well into their evenings or even early mornings (it’s still mid-afternoon on Friday here in Hawaii), I’ll throw this out there now as weekend food for thought.

I’m considering the Atom-based Willcom D4 as my next significant purchase, you see, so I’m always on the lookout for importers to turn to when my gadget addiction and shopaholic nature get the best of me. GeekStuff4U was the first to begin taking preorders, but since they’re not expecting the unit to be in stock until June 20th, their prices fluctuate, and the specs list is missing battery information, I still do regular searches for other alternatives. During today’s hunt I came across Direct from Japan, an importer that’s priced D4 preorders at $1539 (a bit higher than GS4U), offers free worldwide shipping, and provides runtime information.

According to DFJ’s product page, the Willcom D4 will have a 5- to 6-hour battery life. As far as I know, this is the first time since the device’s unveiling last month that any kind of figure/estimate has been given. Whether it’s actually true remains to be seen, of course, but it’s not a bad place to start.
