Kohjinsha SC series preorders cheaper at Conics.net
The new Kohjinsha SC series of Atom-based mini notebooks can be purchased in Japan directly from Kohjinsha starting at 89,900 yen (about $833). That’s certainly fine and well for everyone in Japan, but what about the rest of us? UMPCPortal notes today that one importer will be selling the 7-inch convertible UMPCs starting at $989 and while that certainly isn’t an outrageous markup by any definition, wouldn’t you rather pay a price that’s even closer to what folks in Japan get?
Conics.net, a well respected and trusted importer, is offering the black and white base models (no Bluetooth or GPS) for only $890 and the highest-configured unit for just $983. Pay an extra $72 and the Kohjinsha SC will even come to you with 2GB of RAM installed. Shipping is expected to begin on July 3rd.
Conics is also accepting preorders for the 8.9-inch SX series ($1066).
