Mobile devices aren't that great

Cellphone_cake_topperIn a recent survey of 6500 business people who use a BlackBerry or other "mobile email device," an astonishing 35% of them admitted that they would choose their connected gadget over their spouse if forced to make a decision.

That's gadget mania hitting a new low. A very sad one. Even though the either-or situation is purely hypothetical, survey participants could have been having marital problems at the time, and what people say they'd do and what they actually do aren't always the same thing, I still think the results are appalling.

I discussed this with my husband over dinner tonight and he jokingly pleaded his case for why I'd be better off keeping him. His reasons: endless entertainment, long battery life, information on demand, sunlight visibility, lots of storage (he carries everything for me), ultimate travel companion, and built-in GPS (debatable). He doesn't have integrated HSDPA, but he still manages to do everything I need him to without delay. And even though he's not pocketable, he wraps nicely around my finger!
