Reconfirmed: Archos Internet Media Tablets use Opera 9 browser

Archos5_opera_pr

Archos already announced that its upcoming 5, 5g, and 7 Internet Media Tablets would come with the Opera browser and Flash 9 support two weeks ago, so I don’t know why it took Opera so long to issue a press release about it. The last two generations of Archos players (including the 604 WiFi and 704 WiFi) used Opera-based browsers too, so even if the new lineup’s launch didn’t mention Opera by name, it wouldn’t have been far-fetched to assume the company was still involved.

Just in case you don’t like to make assumptions and you missed the early IMT info, including that even the 5 and 7 devices are HSDPA-ready, then take this as official reconfirmation that Opera will again power the new line. We’ve already got a nice thread about the IMTs in the Pocketables Forum, too, so feel free to drop by if the browser news gets your gadget meter going.
