Digital Cube to release Telson 3D UMPC this month

You may remember hearing about a VIA-based UMPC this past summer that had a 3D screen and was more of a proof-of-concept than anything else. The device was branded by Telson, a multimedia player manufacturer, and featured a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor, 512MB RAM, 30GB hard drive, 4.3-inch screen, and Windows XP.

Well, the UMPC is back in the news today with a brief hands-on video, a photo of a 3D video camera attachment, and word that Digital Cube (who acquired Telson last month) will bring the device to market this month for an unknown price.

The 3D screen isn’t mentioned in the new information, but I wouldn’t write it off completely until the unnamed UMPC is officially launched. It isn’t clear exactly when Digital Cube plans to announce the product (or if it will be rebranded) but as of today, the slate isn’t on the company’s website.

What has been spotted, however, is this slightly WALL-E looking 3D video camera attachment that connects to the UMPC via USB. According to the machine translations, "the UMPC is equipped with Digital Cube as an individual UCC was able to shoot a movie about 3D is a unique model" (via Danawa), "you can hire and 3D video camera and connect to the shooting" (via Lazion), and the "USB connector that is used to connect to the UCC for a separate 3D video directly to the camera is shooting" (via moveplayer). Got that?

While your brain bends and twists to make sense of an add-on that may or may not be included with the UMPC, your eyes and ears can enjoy themselves with this:
