Willcom D4 UMPC gets encased in rubber

A new addition to the Willcom storeroom is this three-piece case designed for the Atom-powered D4 UMPC (Sharp WS016SH). The plastic front and back plates are lightly coated with smooth anti-slip rubber, while the removable screen guard is made of a clear hard plastic that can be flipped up for access to the D4’s touchscreen.

Available in Formal Black and Fine Blue, the case has cutouts for all of the unit’s main controls, ports, and slots but cannot be used with the D4 cradle. Another shortcoming is that the back plate isn’t compatible with the extended battery, which now comes standard with the Ver. L model and which I highly recommend as a must-have accessory for original D4 owners. Oh, and if the ~$46 price tag doesn’t scare you away, be aware that double-sided tape is recommended to ensure a secure fit.
