Mobile blogging preview with Xperia X1

Since Pocketables is leaving for CES in a few days and I’ve mentioned that I’d be supplementing my regular coverage with some mobile blogging from press events and the showroom floor, some of you may be wondering how these "moblogs" will look.

Well, you’re looking at it! After a good deal of trial-and-error on my test site, I’ve selected Flickr’s email-to-blog function and the Xperia X1 for my mobile blogging needs. I just take a photo with the X1’s 3.2-megapixel camera (I’m actually just using VGA resolution above, which I may also use for the show) and email it to a Flickr email address that posts directly to this site and turns the email subject and body into the post title and body you see here.

Since these mobile posts look almost identical to my normal posts (they’ll be much shorter than this one, by the way), I’ll be adding the following line, which I set up as an email signature, to each one for easy identification:

:: Live at CES 2009 from the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 ::

There are a few drawbacks to using Flickr, but compared to the other moblog services I tried, I’m happy and optimistic that this method will work out well next week. The X1’s keyboard is great, too!
