Nokia N810 and Sony mylo 2 top Amazon "MID" search

Amazon_mid

The MID according to Intel may not be the hot topic these days, but it appears that Amazon.com at least recognizes the acronym as a valid search term (and not a prefix) and relates it to "mobile internet device" and "umpc" searches. This isn't breaking news, of course, but I think it's pretty significant that such a mainstream retailer knows what to do with such a non-mainstream keyword. Buy.com, Best Buy, Newegg, and J&R, for example, all return irrelevant results.

Anyway, with nothing from Intel (who coined the term in 2007) in its database, the best Amazon can come up with is the Sony mylo COM-2 and Nokia N810. I personally wouldn't call either of these devices MIDs because I still follow Intel's definition, but compared to what's out there, I'd say they're deserving of the top two spots (though they should be switched). Actually, given the amount of people who identify it as the "perfect MID," I'm surprised that the iPod touch isn't on the list.
