ITG xpPhone should replace iPhone and BlackBerry, says AMD Global VP

Xpphone_pr1

During one of its first outings as a real working product rather than just a rendered image, the AMD-powered ITG xpPhone that's been available for preorder since September landed in the hands of several AMD executives.

Though those involved continue to remain tight-lipped about the exact chip being used in the slider-style MID phone (it's still just being listed as an "AMD Super Mobile CPU" that can be customized with clock speeds above and below 1GHz), they were clearly quite pleased with the system's performance when making and receiving calls using sample devices a few days ago. Why else would Rick Lisa, Global VP of AMD Embedded Sales, recommend that his colleagues use the xpPhone instead of the iPhone or BlackBerry? Probably the same reason that Buddy Broeker, Director of AMD Embedded Computing Solutions Division, thought that "most of [his] colleagues [were] feeling jealous" while he was holding the handset.

Many believe that the CPU will probably be the old Geode, but there's no harm in hoping for something better until ITG or AMD confirms or denies it, right?
