Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 delayed until January

Xperia_x2
There have been some recent rumors that Sony Ericsson's latest Windows Mobile smartphone, the Xperia X2, would be delayed to the beginning of next year. The direct successor to the Xperia X1 was originally scheduled to be released in Q4 2009. SE has made a statement confirming the rumors and announcing we can now expect the X2 to be available in January, citing software integration issues and further tweaks to improve battery life and performance as causes for the delay.

As a brief reminder, the Xperia X2 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro with an updated version of the Panels interface first seen on the Xperia X1. The device features a 3.2-inch WVGA touch screen, optical trackpad, full QWERTY sliding arc keyboard, 8.1MP camera, GPS, b/g WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. Two models will be available, the X2a supporting the 3G frequencies in the US and the X2 for the rest of the world.
