If you've been holding your breath for a proper Fujitsu U820 successor and thought that the shiny UH900 would just be a new product line that would coexist with the mini convertible U series, you might want to look away.
For everyone else, Fujitsu Japan has just launched the U/G90, its version of the UH900, under the LOOX U line that all variants of the U810/U820 belong to and is offering it in multiple configurations with Windows 7 for prices starting at 99,800 yen (~$1100). The only XP version, which comes with 1GB of RAM, 1.6GHz Atom, and a 32GB SSD, costs 89,800 yen (~$988). The devices running Windows 7 Home Premium, on the other hand, all come with 2GB of RAM standard and can be ordered with a choice of Atom CPU (1.3GHz, 1.6GHz, 2.0GHz), SSD capacity (32GB or 64GB), and WiMAX. Other specs, like the 5.6-inch multitouch display (1280 x 800), WiFi, and Bluetooth, remain consistent across the board.
In addition to black, champagne, and red, the LOOX U/G90 can also be purchased with a camo green or camo black casing design courtesy of Bathing Ape. All models are expected to become available on January 21st.
The UH900 has been available in Hong Kong for about a month now (and at even higher prices), so although the LOOX U/G90 may not have original U series fans too excited about its arrival in Japan, it's still nice that other parts of the world aren't being left out of the ultra long, high-resolution, glossy party.
