Sungworld developing an Android MID tablet

Sungworld, a Chinese manufacturer specializing mainly in laptops and GPS devices, has something new up its sleeves: a 7-inch Android tablet MID that is set to launch around the end of this month.

This new entry into the increasingly crowded Android tablet market is quite attractive albeit a little thick with a glass front, curved corners, and brushed metallic surround, clearly with a bit of inspiration from Apple. The shot of the GUI above also seems to have adopted a lot of Mac icons, but is probably just a placeholder. Hardware specifications are pretty comprehensive if not spectacular with an ARM926 processor powering proceedings, a 7-inch WVGA touch screen, 128MB of RAM, 2GB of local storage (SSD), microSD card support, two USB ports, and WiFi. More interestingly, the Sungworld tablet is said to be capable of playing back full HD 1080p videos and outputting them via the built-in HDMI port.

The device will also be available in a range of five colors: pink, light blue, dark purple, green, and black. Final pricing and availability is unconfirmed at this point, but the company has said the price should be very competitive. Hopefully we will get to learn more leading up to launch.
