Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 set for UK, German and Japanese launches in April
Looks like those earlier rumors of a February launch have proven to be incorrect, as the Vodafone UK website has now listed that the XPERIA X10 will finally be making its UK debut come April. This matches some other recent press releases from T-Mobile Germany and NTT DoCoMo announcing the April launch of the highly anticipated handset in Germany and Japan, respectively.
We can hopefully assume it will be available in most other territories soon after, if not in the same time frame. Unfortunately, apart from providing the month there still haven't been any firm dates or prices.
A latecomer to the Android bandwagon, Sony Ericsson has a lot riding on the X10 with intense competition from the usual suspects, not to mention the recent launch of the Google Nexus One that already has very similar specifications and the latest version of Android.
Unfortunately, it seems like the X10 will still launch with the older 1.6 (Donut) version of the OS, with an update to 2.x at a later date. On the other hand, the X10's ambitious Nexus UX user interface looks to be coming along very nicely with our Chris King having very positive impressions from his hands-on with the device at CES. We also can't forget that 8.1MP camera, with lots of sample photos on the SE Product Blog.
I have been looking forward to the X10 for a while now, but we'll only get to find out if it has been worth the wait in several weeks time. Who else is looking forward to the X10? Is it already too little too late?
