Motorola Droid finally receiving Android 2.1 update

Happy-droid
After weeks of waiting and confusion, it looks like the Motorola Droid is finally receiving the long awaited upgrade to Android 2.1, with Verizon releasing the update over-the-air today in a staggered distribution. This means it will likely be a week before everyone receives it, so don't panic if you don't immediately get the notification! The update is timely as Andoid 2.1 was released for the nearly identical Motorola Milestone in Europe yesterday and a bit earlier in Hong Kong.

The major enhancements include Live Wallpapers, pinch-to-zoom functionality in the browser, new Gallery and updated Google Maps applications, voice-to-text entry, and a new Weather and News application and widget, among other improvements. Head over to BoyGeniusReport for the full change log and if you're a Droid owner, feel free to leave some impressions of the update in the comments.
