Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 finally set for UK launch with T-Mobile in 10 days

After all the rumors and subsequent delays, T-Mobile UK has today updated their online store with availability of the long awaited Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, although eager customers will need to wait 10 days for delivery meaning they won’t receive the new handset until the beginning of April, when it is also set to launch on Vodafone UK, T-Mobile Germany, and NTT DoCoMo in Japan.

As for the price with T-Mobile UK, the phone is free with a £35 (US$53)/month 2-year contract and a higher than expected £191 (US$288), with a more reasonable £15 (US$23)/month 2-year contract. For reference, the similarly spec’d HTC Desire (essentially the twin of the Nexus One) only costs £129 (US$195) with the same £15 contract. It should be interesting to see how the prices and plans compare when the X10 launches on Vodafone UK and other carriers next month.

As for those in the US, the last we heard was that the X10 is expected to launch with AT&T also in April, but so far there hasn’t been any new news on that front. Hopefully we will receive clarification in the coming weeks.
