Best Buy already promoting Sprint EVO 4G, under $200 on contract?

We may still have a few months or so before we can get our grubby mitts on HTC's best handset ever, but that doesn't mean we can't indulge in some pre-release rumors. The folks at Wireless Goodness have heard from one of their readers that, as per one Geek Squad employee at Best Buy, the Sprint EVO 4G is slated to come in under $200 with a new two-year contract.

This is not all that surprising, considering Best Buy typically undercuts Sprint's own pricing and does it by offering instant rebates instead of the usual mail-in variety. If this pricing holds true, the no-longer-a-surprise iPhone 4G that may be arriving in June may lose a few potential customers to what should be superior hardware.

In the meantime, Best Buy is already running a teaser page for the EVO 4G on their site, with all of the specs we already have known, plus the option to sign up for email notification when the phone is available. That date itself is open for interpretation since we only know the timeframe as Summer 2010, but considering a few lucky Sprint Premier customers have a chance of winning one toward the end of May, the wait for the rest of us shouldn't be much longer.
