Archos 7 Home Tablet now shipping in June

Archos_7_ht_shipping_2 Following a slightly drawn out period from when we first heard about European retailers taking pre-orders and shipping by mid-April and Amazon doing the same in the US but without a confirmed release date, Archos has now made an official announcement that it will be shipping the Archos 7 Home Tablet ($199.99 for 8GB) to US retailers in early June. This is a bit later than what most people were expecting, but there is some good news for those who pre-ordered the tablet, as they can look forward to receiving their units a bit earlier, around the end of May.

Unfortunately the press release also confirms that the Archos 7 HT will be unable to access Android Market with app access limited to the company's AppsLib store, like the Archos 5 Android. The tablet will also come with a few apps pre-installed including eBuddy and Aldiko's e-reader software. Strangely there is still no mention of when we can expect to see the Archos 8 HT.
