UMPC

Dynamism now offering latest Sony Vaio P imports, starting at $1399

From the moment Sony unleashed the teaser page for its upcoming UMPC, with what appeared to be an orange paper clip, it's safe to say the company got our attention. Of course, as we found out recently, the Sony Vaio P has been updated and is already available to order for delivery within the next few weeks in many parts of the world. As we not-so-patiently wait for our turn here in the US, Dynamism has come to the rescue with the Japanese import, officially known as the VPC-P11A.

Starting at a price of $1399 for the base model, which consists of a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 and 64GB SSD, along with the Black Crocodile casing, the new P series can be ordered as a non-cancellable MTO system with delivery sometime around July 15th. The high-end version, coming in at $1999, includes the upgrade to a Z560 processor running at 2.13GHz, as well as a 256GB SSD. All five colors are available in this particular configuration, with the Black Crocodile pattern adding $100 to the price. Mobile broadband and GPS are not available on the imports Dynamism is carrying.

While the pricing may initially seem a bit high, considering we know the US base model will come in at $799, Dynamism is one of the only places a guy like me from Texas will be able to find the Z560 / 256GB version of the Vaio P. It would hardly be a surprise if Sony offers a very limited selection of specs and colors here, and since the high-end models of the previous generation were never available, US customers might be looking at a Z530 / 64GB config from Sony Style sooner or later.
