New Sony Vaio P gets revised shipping dates depending on configuration

If you see the new Sony Vaio P in your future and have your heart set on the high-end configuration with the just-as-new 2.13GHz Intel Atom Z560 processor, then you're in for a considerably longer wait than those who opt for the 1.6GHz Z530 and 2GHz Z550 models. While previous information suggested that the updated P would pack its 1.4-pound body into a box next month, it turns out that the 1.6GHz and 2.0GHz mini notebooks will actually begin shipping later this month (May 22 for WiMAX only, end of May for WiMAX/3G/GPS) regardless of SSD capacity (64GB, 128GB, 256GB) and the 2.13GHz device will ship in early July.

In fact, according to Sony Style Japan, the only Vaio P that will ship in June (late June at the earliest in this case) is the black crocodile one, assuming you don't expect the Z560 CPU to be inside it, of course.

I was planning to get the Z560 configuration for review but after finding out that I'd have to wait more than a month for a 0.13GHz boost in speed, I decided to go with the 2.0GHz version instead. My Fujitsu UH900 runs on the same CPU, so it should make for a nice comparison.

Note: The Vaio P still hasn't been added to the US Sony Style website, so configuration and availability may differ here in the states.
