We all saw how ballot stuffing caused the myTouch 3G Slide to narrowly beat the HTC EVO in LAPTOP's Android Cup last month, and now the site has taken public voting out of the equation and reached its own conclusion that the Motorola Droid X is better than the EVO.
LAPTOP compared the two Android powerhouses in 15 different categories and declared a winner in each when possible. The two phones tied in 6 categories (design, specs & performance, web browsing, included apps/services, call quality, and pricing & value). Of the remaining 9, the Droid X was crowned king in the display, camera & camcorder, music & video, battery life, and accessories categories, while the EVO was decided to be better in the software & interface, keyboard, mobile hotspot apps, and special features categories. If you're keeping count, that's 5 wins for the Droid X and 4 wins for the EVO.
Personally, I think a winner should've been chosen in each category, especially since the phones ended up in a draw in all of the most important categories. The actual wins/losses were mostly in inconsequential categories. I mean, who cares if the EVO has a better keyboard? There are dozens of keyboard alternatives out there; install the same one on both phones and the EVO's win is meaningless.
Thanks, K T!
