The end of an era: Nexus One sold out and no longer available from Google

Only a few days after Google confirmed that the current shipment of Nexus One smartphones would be the last batch sold directly through its online store, today it has come to light that the heralded Android poster child is now sold out and no longer available online. As mentioned previously, the device will continue to be available through retail partners in a few countries, such as Vodafone in Europe and KT in Korea for the time being, with Google also continuing to make the device directly available for registered developers through the Android Market Publisher site.

As the flagship of Google's Android project, with its unmodified Android interface providing the true Google experience, I believe it will go down as a landmark device in the Android story. Personally, I'm really surprised at how quickly it has sold out since the original announcement last Friday! Were you one of the lucky individuals to place your order before the end?
