Witstech A81-E tablet now available dual booting Android and WinCE

You may remember the Witstech A81 tablet that first emerged last summer and has made a couple of appearances since then, even starring in an impressive video overview. The MID caught our attention with its 600MHz ARM Cortex A8 based TI OMAP3430 processor, simple design, and tempting price. The only downside was that the choice of OS was Windows CE 6.0; the company promised that it would release a downloadable Android installation and an updated version running Android, but neither materialized. Well, it now appears that Witstech has delivered with the launch of the updated A81-E that ships with both Android 2.1 and WinCE 6.0 allowing you to dual boot into either OS!

This is a great move by Witstech to provide more choice to consumers and brings the momentum of the Android OS to its already impressive tablet. Apart from this very welcome option, the hardware remains virtually unchanged with the same processor, 256MB RAM, 2GB local storage expandable by microSD, a 7-inch LED backlit, WVGA touchscreen display, b/g WiFi, and a 3000mAh battery. For those interested in picking up a new dual booting A81-E, MeriMobiles is selling the tablet for a very tempting price of $199.99. Any takers?
